Un asfalto ecologico che resiste alle intemperie, non si consuma e non inquina l’ambiente. Stiamo parlando di un nuovo conglomerato bituminoso prodotto dall’azienda emiliana ‘Airbank’, da utilizzare ‘a freddo’ per interventi urgenti di manutenzione a basso costo delle strade.
Il nuovo asfalto ecologico, denominato ‘Potholess’, rappresenta una soluzione innovativa non solo nel campo della mobilità sostenibile, ma anche nell’ambito di una viabilità più sicura, visto che il suo impiego permette di ottemperare agevolmente ai lavori quotidiani di manutenzione del manto stradale (come ad es. il tappare le buche).
L’asfalto ecologico ‘Potholess’, in particolare, sfrutta il processo di ‘posa a freddo’, ossia una tecnica che consiste nel stendere semplicemente l’impasto bituminoso sulla zona interessata e pressarlo, quindi attendere che a contatto con l’aria lentamente si indurisca. ‘Potholess’ tra l’altro rende superfluo l’utilizzo della mano di attacco realizzata con emulsione bituminosa, così come l’impiego di mezzi meccanici nella fase di compattazione finale. In questo modo si consegue un notevole risparmio economico ed un minor impatto con l’ambiente. La procedura classica di ‘posa a caldo’ infatti, rappresenta un pericolo per l’ambiente e per l’incolumità degli asfaltatori. Da un lato, gli addetti ai lavori di rifacimento del manto stradale vengono a contatto quotidianamente con idrocarburi policlici aromatici, ossia delle sostanze inquinanti altamente nocive per la salute. In secondo luogo, le emissioni generate dalla posa a caldo appesantiscono lo smog urbano.
L’asfalto ecologico ‘Potholess’ è inoltre un impasto resistente alle intemperie, composto da fibre sintetiche, graniglia basaltica e bitume a base di plastomeri/polimeri. Il conglomerato bituminoso si applica a freddo con una semplice pala o con il badile e aderisce immediatamente al manto stradale.
L’asfalto ecologico ‘Potholess’ può essere stoccata per 6-8 mesi e presenta l’ulteriore vantaggio di non aderire agli pneumatici dei veicoli, scongiurando il rischio di sgranamento e di dispersione della graniglia. Per maggiori informazioni si può fare riferimento a questo sito.
